“…I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness…
John 8:12 (NIV)
The weekend that saw darkness cover the land for hours burst forth into glorious light at the beginning of the new week. The women who were there witnessing Jesus’s death were again there to witness an empty tomb.
They had come early on the first day of the week, bringing spices to anoint His body. But to their dismay (and later delight), the body was not where they had left it. Instead, they had been told by the angel who sat on the rolled away stone that ‘He is risen.’ Risen? Yes. Hallelujah!
Imagine the disbelief when the women made haste to go tell the disciples. Then they recalled that He had said to them, “The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.” (Luke 24:7 – NIV).
That weekend changed forever the fate and state of all mankind. We are a new creation in Christ Jesus because of the cross and the bloodshed there. There is, therefore, now no condemnation to those who are in Him. We were once darkness but now are light in the Lord. Let us walk as children of Light – Ephesians 5:8. We need no longer wallow in sin or hang our heads in shame, for God has laid on Him the iniquity of all of us – Isaiah 53:6.
My wish is that we may know Him and the power of His resurrection (Philippians 3:10). Oh, that we might believe He is able to cleanse and keep us from sin and present us faultless before the throne of God. I urge you, brethren, to present yourselves as living sacrifices, holy and well-pleasing to God (Romans 12:1 – NIV). Sin’s debt has been paid in full. This is Easter!
So, bless the Lord for all His works in all places of His dominion. Bless the Lord with all your soul. Be that light!
